The Gentle Glacier is a small glacier tongue in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Convoy Range the glacier flows east and immediately below the Forecastle Summit in a southerly direction into the otherwise glacier-free Barnacle Valley . It is part of the Northwind Fry Glacier System.
The naming was made at the suggestion of the New Zealand geologist Christopher J. Burgess in memory of the support of the reconnaissance teams by helicopters of the United States Navy between 1976 and 1977, whose code name is Gentle .
