Northwind Glacier is a large glacier in the Convoy Range in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It flows from the western section of the Flight Deck Firnfield in a northerly direction between the Elkhorn Ridge and the Sunker Nunatakkern to the Fry Glacier . A short side tongue flows west to the entrance of the Greenville Valley .
The New Zealand Northern Group of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) named it after the icebreaker USCGC Northwind , which belonged to the US Association in McMurdo Sound from 1956 to 1957 .
