Geoffrey Bibby

Thomas Geoffrey Bibby (born October 14, 1917 in Heversham , England , † February 6, 2001 in Aarhus ) was an English archaeologist.

He studied archeology at the University of Cambridge and worked from 1947 to 1950 as an employee of the Iraq Petroleum Company in Bahrain , as he could not find a job in the profession he had learned. In Bahrain he met his future wife, whom he married in 1949. Through his wife he met the Danish professor Peter Vilhelm Glob and got a job at Aarhus University in Denmark . He later became director of the Oriental Department of the Prehistoric Museum there. From 1952 he dug in Bahrain and other Gulf states and found the legendary Dilmun and other prehistoric cultures.
