Douglas Geoffrey Rowell ( February 13, 1943 - June 11, 2017 in Chichester ) was a Bishop of the Diocese in Europe of the Church of England .

Douglas Geoffrey Rowell studied at Winchester College and Corpus Christi College in Cambridge. In 1969 he was ordained a priest in the Church of England. He then worked as chaplain of Keble College in Oxford from 1971 to 1994, 1981 as canon of Chichester Cathedral and as Examining Chaplain of the Bishop of Leicester (1979-1990) and the Bishop of Winchester (1991-1993). Before Rowell was appointed Bishop of Gibraltar on October 18, 2001 in St Margaret's Church as the successor of John William Hind and took possession of his diocese on November 1, he was suffragan Bishop of Basingstoke (1994-2001). As Bishop of Gibraltar, Rowell was not only responsible for the Anglicans of the Church of England in Gibraltar, but for all Anglicans throughout mainland Europe. Rowell was also Assistant Bishop of the Old Catholic Church in Germany and Coadjutor Bishop of Dušan Hejbal of the Czech Old Catholic Church . He has been succeeded as Bishop of Gibraltar since 2014 by Robert Innes . Rowell was most recently Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Chichester. He died after a brief illness on the morning of Trinity Sunday 2017 at St. Wilfrid's Hospice in Chichester.
