Geoffrey Toone

Geoffrey Toone (born November 15, 1910 in Dublin , † June 1, 2005 in Northwood , Middlesex ) was an Irish actor .

Life

Toone began his artistic career in 1931 at the Old Vic Theater School . Almost 70 active years as an actor on stage, in film and television were to follow. Toone played in the West End of London and from 1934 alongside John Gielgud in his New Theater Company . Other stages of his stage career were Liverpool, New York Broadway (debut 1948), Bristol and Toronto.

In 1938 he made his film debut in the Production Sword of Honor . He starred under the direction of Carol Reed The Man between (1953), Douglas Sirk ( Captain Lightfoot ) alongside Yul Brynner in the musical The King and Me (1956) and in Once more, with feeling , alongside Roger Moore in the period film Diane - Courtesan von France (1956), alongside Laurence Olivier in The Entertainer (1960), alongside Christopher Lee in the horror film Terror of the Tongs (1961) and alongside Peter Cushing in the film version of the popular British television series Dr. Who and the Daleks (1965).
