Geoffrey Wright

Geoffrey Wright (* 1959 in Melbourne , Victoria ) is an Australian film director .

Life

In 1959 Geoffrey Wright was born in Melbourne, Victoria. He attended Swinburne Film and Television School and graduated with a diploma . He then worked as a film critic for Melbourne Age and Radio 3AW .

Wright made his directorial debut with the short film Lover Boy , which was named Best Australian Short at the Sydney and Melbourne Film Festivals . In 1992 he directed and scripted the film Romper Stomper . Russell Crowe and Jacqueline McKenzie got a leading role in the film , which made Wright famous outside of Australia.

This was followed by the drama Metal Skin , with Ben Mendelsohn also starring in Lover Boy , in 1995. In 1996 he directed an episode of the television series Naked: Stories of Men , before he directed the 2000 horror film Sex or Die with Brittany Murphy completed as "Jody Brands". In 2006 he worked as a director on the Shakespeare adaptation Macbeth , with Sam Worthington and Kate Bell in front of the camera.
