Geoffrey of Langley

Geoffrey of Langley (* 1243 ; † 1307 ) was an English diplomat .

Life

Geoffrey of Langley was the younger son of Geoffrey de Langley . He was an ally of Robert de Ferrers, 6th Earl of Derby . When this 1268 joined the uprising of Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester against Edward I , Geoffrey of Langley moved to the camp of Edmund Crouchback, 1st Earl of Lancaster .

Geoffrey of Langley participated in the Seventh Crusade of Edward I to the Holy Land from 1270 to 1271 . In 1280 Geoffrey of Langley owned two watermills, two domains and eight farms in addition to the estate.

Geoffrey of Langley joined in Genoa in 1290 , the company of Buscarello de Ghizolfi , ambassador of the Mongolian Ilkhan Arghun and traveled with him to Tabriz , where Gaichatu ruled from 1291 . The mission's travel expense reports have been preserved. Geoffrey was back in Genoa on January 11, 1293 . In 1294 Geoffrey of Langley accompanied Edmund Crouchback, 1st Earl of Lancaster, to France.
