Georg-Friedrich Koch (art historian)

Georg-Friedrich Rudolf Wolfram Koch , also Georg Friedrich Koch (born September 1, 1920 in Börnecke ; † October 7, 1994 ) was a German art historian .

Life

After graduating from high school in Leipzig in 1939 , he studied art history, musicology and archeology at the University of Leipzig from 1939 to 1940 and at the University of Göttingen in 1943, 1945-1948 . He served in the Wehrmacht (1940–1943, 1944–1945 deployment as an infantryman and after being wounded as a medic, most recently as a sergeant ). From 1949 to 1952 he was a research assistant and from 1950 had a teaching position at the Art History Institute in Leipzig. From 1952 to 1958 he had a teaching position and from 1952 was a lecturer in art history at the University of Rostock . After fleeing the republic to West Germany in 1958, he was re- qualified in 1959 , after which he was a private lecturer at the University of Hamburg . From 1963 to 1969 he taught as an adjunct professor for art history in Hamburg . From 1969 until his retirement in 1988 he was professor for art history at the TH Darmstadt .
