Georg Adam Rehfues
Georg Adam Rehfues (born October 6, 1784 in Tübingen ; † February 3, 1858 in Bern ) was a German-Swiss gold and silversmith .
Life
Born in Tübingen, Rehfues came to Friedrich Brugger in Bern in 1803 as a journeyman and opened his own goldsmith's workshop in 1808. After 1815, the workshop on the Aare was quickly expanded into a manufacture. Hydropower enabled the transition to industrial manufacturing methods. The company temporarily employed more than 50 people and supplied customers from all over Switzerland. Rehfues made the Empire style socially acceptable in Switzerland with his works. His son Philipp Rudolf Rehfues continued the successful workshop after 1858.
