Georg Andreas Agricola , also Georgio Andrea Agricola or Georg Andreas Bauer (* 1672 in Regensburg , † 1738 ) was a German doctor and botanist .

Agricola was considered a capable scientist. He was engaged in cutting and grafting plants. He gave valuable information on the cultivation of plants from parts of roots or branches by vegetative propagation . He developed a method of grafting different types of fruit onto a tree of one type so that this tree would bear different types of fruit. His book on grafting was so well received by gardeners and botanists that it was translated into Dutch, French and English as soon as it was published. It was still considered the standard work on fruit tree cultivation for decades.

In 1699 he was elected a member of the Royal Society .
