Georg August Richter

Georg August Richter (born April 9, 1778 in Göttingen , † June 18, 1832 in Berlin ) was a Prussian military doctor and professor of practical medicine.

Live and act

Georg August Richter was the son of the Göttingen surgeon August Gottlieb Richter . He studied medicine in Göttingen and received his doctorate there in 1799. He then made a five-year trip abroad and, on his return in 1804, passed the state examinations in Prussia. In 1809 he qualified as a professor at the newly founded university in Berlin . In 1813 he became senior staff doctor at the Prussian main reserve hospital, and at the beginning of 1814 director of the hospital in Torgau . In the same year he became an associate professor in Berlin. In 1815 he served as director of the main reserve hospital in Cologne. In 1816 he returned to Berlin and in 1823 accepted an appointment as a full professor of practical medicine in Königsberg . In 1832 he died of a stroke during the cholera epidemic in Berlin.
