Georg (e) August von Breitenbauch (born August 28, 1731 in Wilsdruff , † September 15, 1817 in Bucha ) was court lord of Bucha and Saxon-Weimar Chamberlain as well as writer, agricultural economist and scholar.

Life

He is the son of Heinrich August von Breitenbauch , heir to Bucha, Schkortleben and Oeglitzsch , royal Polish and electoral Saxon Privy Councilor and Director des Plaisirs (court marshal) at the Dresden court († June 18, 1747 in Paris ) and Sophia Augusta born from Schönberg.

Georg August had ten siblings. From 1749 to 1753 he studied at the University of Jena . After graduating, he went on an extensive trip through France. In 1754 he stayed in Berlin, where he made the acquaintance of Lessing. Later he got to know Goethe and Herder.

Since 1784 he was a member of the Erfurt academy of non-profit science and since August 15, 1808 honorary member of the Pegnese Flower Order (No. 282), a language and literary society of the Baroque.

In 1794 he wrote the first German-language topography of Athens , which became the basis for numerous later works.

Georg August von Breitenbauch comes from the Thuringian noble family von Breitenbuch . Georg August von Breitenbauch has been with Juliane Henriette Christiane von Thüna, born in 1757. 1726, died 1800 in Bucha married. Their marriage had four children: August Wilhelm, Georg Ludwig, Sofie Juliane and Heinrich Ferdinand.
