Georg Bernhard Depping
Georg Christoph Bernhard Depping (born May 11, 1784 in Münster , † September 6, 1853 in Paris ) was a Franco-German historian.
Live and act
In 1803 Georg Bernhard Depping accompanied a French emigrant to France, where he initially found employment as a teacher at several educational institutions in Paris, then studied the new languages and contributed to French and German magazines. Since 1820 he was a foreign member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . He died on September 6, 1853 in Paris, since 1827 he was naturalized in France.

- Merveilles et beautés de la nature en France (Paris 1811; 9th ed., That . 1845);
- Les soirées d'hiver (3rd edition 1833; German, Krefeld 1831);
- Voyages d'un étudiant dans les cinq parties du monde (1822, 2 parts);
- La Grèce (1823, 4 vols.);
- La Suisse (2nd ed. 1824, 4 vols.);
- Histoire des expéditions maritimes des Normands et de leur établissement en France au X. siècle (1826, 2 vols .; 2nd ed. 1844; German, Hamburg 1829);
- Histoire du commerce entre l'Europe et le Levant depuis les croisades jusqu'à la fondation des colonies d'Amérique (1832, 2 vols.);
- Memories from the life of a German in Paris (Leipzig 1832);
- Les juifs dans le moyen-âge (1834, new edition 1844; German, Stuttgart 1834);
- History of the war of the Munster and Cologne against Holland 1672-74 (Munster 1840).
He also continued Liquets Histoire de la Normandie (Rouen 1835, 2 vol.) And edited the oldest statutes of the crafts of the city of Paris (1837) and a compilation of the most important files relating to the state administration of Louis XIV (1850 ) for the collection of historical documents -55, 4 vols.). His collection of Spanish romances , first published in 1817, was published in a second edition under the title: Romancero castellano (Leipzig. 1844, 2 vol .; vol. 3 by F. Wolf, 1846).
