In the first two years of his career, from 1902 to 1903, he gained his first practical experience in the Hahn tube rolling mill in Oldenburg. From 1904 he was works manager of the Hannoversche Eisengießerei AG in Anderten for three years before he took up a position manager at the iron foundry JF Weule in Bockenem am Harz.

In 1908 he first became a technical advisor to the German Cast Pipe Association in Cologne. In 1910 he received power of attorney. In 1914 he was appointed deputy managing director. He took part in the First World War as a captain. After returning from the war, he was appointed director of the German cast iron pipe band in 1919, which he headed until his death.

Georg Blanchart was a cousin of the agricultural chemist Franz Honcamp . In 1935 he was appointed the first and so far only honorary boy of the Corps Saxonia-Berlin.

In 1910 Blanchart married Friederike Gronemann in Düsseldorf. He died of cancer in a Cologne hospital at the age of 66.
