Georg Friedrich Andreas Buderus ( usually written with I to distinguish it from his nephew Georg Buderus II of the same name ) (born March 9, 1777 at the Friedrichshütte ; † February 26, 1840 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German entrepreneur ( Buderus ) and politician.

family

Buderus was the son of the Solms-Laubach mountain ridge Johann Wilhelm Buderus (1740–1806) and his wife Wilhelmine nee Trieb (1747–1782). He, who was a Protestant denomination, married on August 19, 1805 in Frankfurt am Main Catharina Louisa Crespel (born August 11, 1789 in Frankfurt am Main; † October 4, 1852 ibid), the daughter of the councilor Johann Bernhard Crespel and his wife Marie Henriette née Schmiedel. Carl Friedrich Buderus von Carlshausen was his great cousin .

Life

Buderus attended high school in Idstein and completed a commercial training in Frankfurt am Main. In 1807 he and his brothers took over their father's company "JW Buderus Söhne" with its seat in Friedrichshütte. After the brothers Johann Christian Wilhelm Buderus (1770–1815) and Anton Georg Wilhelm Christian Buderus (1774–1811) died early, he became the sole owner of the company. In 1812 he leased the Löhnberger Hütte and in 1817 the ironworks in Hirzenhain. In 1822 he bought the Christianshütte near Schupbach. With the rapid introduction of modern technologies, he developed the Buderus company into the leading furnace casting company on the Lahn. Since he died without male offspring, his nephews took over the company. He was honored with the title of Grand Ducal Hessian Mountain Council.

In 1818 he was elected from the group of tradesmen to the Chamber of Deputies of the estates of the Duchy of Nassau . He resigned his mandate in 1818. In a by-election in 1819, Jacob Bertram was elected in his place.
