Carl Georg Wever

Carl Georg Wever (born May 26, 1807 in Schwelm ; † July 6, 1884 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer and Prussian attorney general .

Life

After passing the baccalaureate at the secondary school in Soest , he graduated from in 1826, a law degree at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn . He then worked as a trainee lawyer from 1831 and as an assessor at the Cologne Regional Court from 1834 . In 1839 he was appointed state procurator and in 1847 chief procurator in Kleve . In 1855 he moved to Berlin as senior tribunal counselor. In 1869 he was appointed Prussian attorney general at the royal upper tribunal and finally in 1876 as crown syndic . As such, he was the king's legal representative in all criminal matters. In the meantime he was appointed a member of the Prussian mansion in 1872 by means of a pair push by the highest decree . On the occasion of his 50th anniversary in service, he was given the title Real Privy Councilor in 1879 with the title of Excellence. At the same time he was awarded an honorary doctorate in law by the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In the same year, however, he asked (at the age of 72) for retirement in order to avoid a planned appeal to the newly formed Reichsgericht in Leipzig .

family

His parents were the businessman Friedrich Moritz Samuel Wever and Petronella Wever geb. Moery. He married Catharina (Cateau) Wilhelmine Johanna Tavenraat in 1843 (* March 5, 1822 - † December 4, 1894). The marriage had six sons: Karl Johann Heinrich Wever (1847–1930, lawyer, Privy Councilor), Arnold Wever (1850–1922, bank director, the Weverpromenade in Berlin-Steglitz is named after him), Fritz Wever (died as a child ); Hermann Wever (1853–1911, lawyer, real secret councilor, Excellency), Wilhelm Dietrich Wever (1855–1929, farmer and banker), Walther G. Wever (1859–1922, lawyer, diplomat, secret councilor). A grandson of Carl Georg Wever and son of Arnold Wever is Walther Wever (1887–1936, Lieutenant General and Chief of the Air Force General Staff).

The family grave is located in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf after a reburial .
