Georg Christoph Bach

Georg Christoph Bach (born September 6, 1642 in Erfurt , † April 27, 1697 in Schweinfurt ) was a German composer from the Bach family . He was an uncle of Johann Sebastian Bach .

Life

Georg Christoph Bach attended the Casimirianum Coburg and later the University of Leipzig . In 1668 he became cantor at the Bartholomäuskirche in Themar and then also organist there , probably from 1679. From 1688 he worked at the church of St. Johannis in Schweinfurt , where his uncle Johann Bach was already temporarily organist.

Works

His vocal piece , which has been handed down in the Altbach archive, See how fine and lovely it is , was composed by the composer on his 47th birthday during a visit by his brothers Johann Ambrosius Bach and Johann Christoph Bach the Elder . A few other works are known, even less have survived.
