Georg Detharding (clergyman)

Georg Detharding the Younger , also III. (* June 7, 1759 in Rostock ; † July 1, 1825 there ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman.

Life

Georg Detharding came from the Mecklenburg family of scholars Detharding and was the son of the Rostock theologian Georg Detharding (the elder) of the same name . He attended the large city school in Rostock and studied Protestant theology . In December 1774 he was enrolled at the University of Bützow . In 1776 he was matriculated in Rostock. In 1780 he appeared as a respondent at the University of Göttingen , and in the winter semester of 1782/83 he received his master's degree in Bützow .

In 1798 he became a deacon at St. Jakobi in Rostock and later her chief pastor. From 1818 until his death in 1825 he was Director ministerii , i.e. Director of the Ministry of Spiritual Affairs , the leading clergyman of the city. In 1819 the Theological Faculty of the University of Rostock awarded him an honorary doctorate .

Since December 19, 1800 he was married to Magdalena Elisabeth Esther Friedlieb, the only daughter of the Rostock Consistorial Councilor Dr. Michael Gustav Friedlieb, who died on October 12, 1813 at the age of 38. In his second marriage, he was married from December 7, 1814 to Katharine Margarete Emerentia Pries (1767-1846), the daughter of an Acciseeer. A son Georg (1802-1827) was a theology candidate and head of a private school in Sülze .
