Georg Doppelhofer

Georg Josef Doppelhofer (born March 12, 1945 in Krieglach / Styria ) is a lawyer and bank manager .

Life

After graduating from the Episcopal Gymnasium in Graz and completing military service , Georg Doppelhofer was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD at the Karl-Franzens University Graz .

He started his professional career at the Economic Development Institute (WIFI) Graz, where he was most recently responsible for the extensive educational program. In 1976 he was hired by the Raiffeisen Central Bank of Styria (today Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark). In 1980 he was appointed managing director and general director of the Raiffeisenzentralkasse Steiermark and the Steirische Raiffeisenbank in Graz.

He headed the Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark group, which was developed in the following decades, until his retirement on January 1, 2006. In parallel to various supervisory board mandates and management activities in the Raiffeisen sector, Doppelhofer represented the interests of the Styrian Raiffeisen group in the joint Raiffeisen central institute, today's Raiffeisen Bank International AG (formerly the cooperative central bank - GZB AG and Raiffeisen central bank Austria - RZB) on the supervisory board from 1980 until 2006 ).

He was also a member of the supervisory board of Oesterreichische Kontrollbank AG , Grazer Wechselseiten (GRAWE) and Bundesländer Versicherungs AG . For the UNIQA Insurance Group , which was later formed from AUSTRIA Versicherung, Collegialität Versicherung, Raiffeisenversicherung and Bundesländer Versicherungs AG , he acted as one of the vice-presidents of the supervisory board after the merger.

Until 2007, Georg Doppelhofer was President of the Supervisory Board of Landes-Hypotheken Bank Steiermark AG, the majority of which was gradually taken over by Raiffeisenlandesbank Steiermark from 1998 onwards. Functions as managing director of Steirerobst GesmbH (today part of Agrana AG), board member of the Agrosserta agricultural processing association, the Styrian farmers association and the Styrian and Austrian Raiffeisen association round off Doppelhofer’s activities in this sector.

As Vice President of the Graz Trade Fair , he was employed by the state. From the formation of Styria Medien AG (today Styria Media Group AG) until 2009, he was a member of the supervisory board of this company, which mostly belongs to the Catholic Media Association.

Doppelhofer was particularly involved in lobbying at the state and federal level. From 1980 onwards he was a member of the “Bank and Insurance” section management at state and federal level. From 1992 to 2006 he was chairman of the “Bank and Insurance” division in Styria. From 1996 to 2004 he made his expertise available to the ÖVP regional party leadership in Styria as a financial officer.

Private

Georg Doppelhofer has been married to Waltraud since 1970. The marriage has two adult children.

As a private citizen, Doppelhofer is known for his extensive historical interest and knowledge of Styrian and Austrian history and is still involved in social, church and community associations. As honorary president of the Austrian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce, which he founded in 2002, and honorary senator of the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz (1st president of the Alumni Association), he is particularly connected to these institutions.

Doppelhofer has been a member of the Catholic Austrian University Association KÖHV Carolina zu Graz and honorary member of various co-founded business-related associations (e.g. Marketing Club Graz) since his studies .
