Georg Dornauer (politician, 1955)

Georg Dornauer (born October 3, 1955 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 2003 to 2008 he was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament and deputy mayor of Sellrain . From 2013 to 2018 he was again a member of the state parliament.

Life

Georg Dornauer attended the elementary school in Gries im Sellrain between 1960 and 1965 and then switched to the secondary school in Kematen in Tyrol . From 1969 he graduated from the HTL Innsbruck building construction department, where he passed the Matura in 1974. Dornauer worked in the structural engineering office in Bucher between 1975 and 1978 and then moved to the Heiss architectural office until 1982. Dornauer worked from 1982 to 2001 for the structural engineering department of the Austrian Federal Railways and has been the district manager of the SPÖ Innsbruck-Land since 2001.

Georg Dornauer was involved as a councilor in Sellrain, to which he has been a member since 1996. Between 1998 and 2004 Dornauer was on the community board, since 2004 he has been the deputy mayor of the community Sellrain. On October 21, 2003, Dornauer was dismissed as a member of the Tyrolean state parliament. He is traffic spokesman for the SPÖ-Tirol and is a member of the committee for agriculture, forestry, traffic and the environment. In May 2008, Dornauer got into the media after losing his driver's license after a positive alcohol test. Party leader Hannes Gschwendtner subsequently announced that he would no longer entrust Dornauer with the function of traffic spokesman if he should move back into the state parliament. Dornauer resigned after the state elections in Tyrol in 2008 on July 1, 2008. Until 2018 he was regional manager of the SPÖ Tirol .

His son Georg Dornauer jun. (* 1983) is also a politician.
