Georg Heinrich Nieper

Georg Heinrich Nieper (born December 22, 1748 in Lüneburg , † April 26, 1841 in Hildesheim ) was a German lawyer and vice-president of the provincial government in the Kingdom of Hanover .

Live and act

After his school days in Lüneburg, Nieper studied law at the University of Göttingen and completed this degree with Georg Ludwig Böhmer , his future father-in-law, with his doctorate . He then joined the royal services of Kurhannover as an auditor in 1770 and was promoted to secret secretary in 1772. In 1777 Nieper was appointed archives secretary, in 1787 a councilor in the consistory and a little later a councilor . Also in 1787, at the 50th anniversary of the University of Göttingen, Nieper was awarded the title of Dr. jur. honoris causa honored.

After the founding of the Kingdom of Hanover in 1814, decided by the Congress of Vienna , Nieper was appointed to the initial "Interim Government Commission" and appointed to the Real Privy Council . He was awarded the Grand Cross of the Guelph Order, especially for his tireless efforts in this development phase .

family

Georg Heinrich Nieper was married to Charlotte Dorothea Böhmer (1756–1793), daughter of the Göttingen law professor and Privy Councilor Georg Ludwig Böhmer (1715–1797) and had at least one son with her. This son was Johannes Georg Ludwig Nieper (1778–1832), who as Landdrost was also in royal Hanoverian service and was awarded a knight in 1821 and a commander of the Guelph order in 1827.
