Georg Jauer

Georg Jauer (born June 25, 1896 in Lissen near Fraustadt , † August 5, 1971 in Greven ) was a German officer , most recently a general of the armored forces in World War II .

Life

Jauer served as an officer in World War I and was then accepted into the Reichswehr.

In the Wehrmacht he rose to lieutenant colonel in 1939. During the World War he led various units, including a. from 1943 the 20th Infantry Division . Shortly before the end of the war in 1945, Jauer was appointed commanding general of the "Greater Germany" tank corps . As its commander, Jawor was in the Battle of Bautzen , along with the 17th and 72nd Infantry Division, despite less more modern "Panther" tanks and later missing fuel -Nachschubs from the Hydrierwerken (ivF gasoline ) the trapped in Bautzen troops to free.
