Georg Küpper

Georg Küpper (born November 3, 1949 in Bensberg ; † January 23, 2016 in Berlin ) was a German law scholar and professor at the University of Potsdam .

Life

After studying law and the filing of the First and Second State Exam in Cologne doctorate Küpper 1982 under the supervision of Hans Joachim Hirsch at the University of Cologne Dr. iur. This was followed by his habilitation in 1989, also in Cologne, with which he acquired the Venia Legendi for the subjects of criminal law, criminal procedural law and legal philosophy. He then represented chairs at the Universities of Heidelberg and Bochum . In 1991 he accepted a position at the University of Potsdam , which was newly founded after reunification , which made him one of the founding professors of this university. Until his retirement in 2015, he held the chair for criminal law and criminal procedure law. His successor was Georg Steinberg .

His grave is on the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .

Küpper devoted himself above all to material criminal law and criminal law dogmatics. In addition, he has been researching legal philosophy since completing his habilitation. In addition, he is characterized by his many years of involvement in the Schopenhauer Society .
