Werchnjotorezke ( Ukrainian Верхньоторецьке ; Russian Верхнеторецкое Werchnetorezkoje ) is an urban-type in the center of the Ukrainian oblast Donetsk with about 2900 inhabitants.
The village, founded in 1772, lies on the upper reaches of the Kryvyi Torez and has been an urban-type settlement since 1938. Between 1963 and 1978 it was called Skotuwata (Скотувата).
The settlement is located north of the Jassynuwata district center and has a train station on the railway line from Jassynuwata to Kramatorsk . In the south of the village runs the M 04 trunk road and since 2014 the front line to the “ Donetsk People's Republic ”.

Verkhnyotorezke is the administrative center of the settlement council of the same name in Jassynuwata district . The settlement council community Werchnjotorezke with a total of about 4,600 residents are still villages Vasylivka ( Василівка ⊙ ) with about 370 inhabitants and Trojizke ( Троїцьке ⊙ ) with about 230 inhabitants and the settlement Betmanowe ( Бетманове ⊙ ) with about 910 inhabitants.
