Welyka Novosilka ( Ukrainian Велика Новосілка ; Russian Великая Новосёлка Velikaja Novosjolka ) is an urban-type settlement in eastern Ukraine in Donetsk Oblast with about 5,800 inhabitants (2016). The village is the administrative seat of Velyka Novosilka district .

Velyka Novosilka is located in the west of Donetsk Oblast 90 km west of the Donetsk Oblast center on the right bank of the Mokri Jaly (Ukrainian Мокрі Яли ), a 147-kilometer tributary of the Vovscha .
In addition to Welyka Nowosilka, the settlement council also includes the villages:
- Neskutschne (Ukrainian Нескучне ) with about 730 inhabitants and an area of 123.1 hectares
- Novyj Komar (Ukrainian Новий Комар ) with around 530 inhabitants and an area of 106.3 hectares
- Wremiwka (Ukrainian Времівка ) with about 1,340 inhabitants and 248.3 ha area
as well as the settlement:
- Blahodatne (Ukrainian Благодатне ) with about 670 inhabitants and an area of 101.6 hectares
history
The settlement was founded in 1779 by Greek settlers who migrated from Crimea. In March 1923 the village became the center of the Rajon. Until 1946 the place was called Velykyj Janisol (Ukrainian Великий Янісоль ). On October 10, 1941, Welyka Nowosilka was occupied by the Wehrmacht and on 12/13. Liberated by the Red Army in September 1943 . In 1965 the village received urban-type settlement status.
