Charzysk ( Ukrainian Харцизьк ; Russian Харцызск Charzyssk ) is an industrial city in the Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine with 58,000 inhabitants (2015). Kharzysk is a city of regional importance.
history
Founded on December 21, 1869 at a train station, the place grew with the beginning of the coal mining and steel industry and developed into an industrial city. Since 1938 Kharzysk has had the status of an independent city since 1962.
The city has been under the control of the internationally unrecognized Donetsk People's Republic since 2014 and, according to the Ukrainian government, belongs to an area in which the organs of state power temporarily do not exercise their powers.

Khartsyzk is in the Donets Basin km east around 30 from Oblastzentrum Donetsk on the highway N21 .

According to the 2001 census, 52.4% of the population are ethnic Ukrainians and 44.1% are ethnic Russians. More than 80% of the residents are Russian native speakers , only 16.3% of the population are Ukrainian native speakers .
