Krasnohoriwka (Ukrainian Красногорівка ; Russian Красногоровка / Krasnogorowka ) is a small town in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine with about 16,000 inhabitants.
Krasnohorivka located in the southern Donets Basin about 7 kilometers north of the Rajonszentrum Marinka and 23 kilometers west of Oblastzentrum Donetsk riverside lozova .
The town was founded in the 1870s, in 1895 a factory for the production of refractory materials was founded in the town, this industry still determines the fortunes of the town today, and Krasnohoriwka was granted town status in 1938.
In the war in Ukraine since 2014 , the city has been fought over between government soldiers and rebels of the proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic . In 2014 the city was briefly occupied by the separatists, but was able to be retaken by Ukrainian troops, in winter and summer 2015 there were further attacks on the city.
