Nikolske ( Ukrainian Нікольське , Russian Никольское Nikolskoye ) is an urban-type settlement in the east of Ukraine in Donetsk Oblast with about 8,300 inhabitants (2016) The town is the administrative headquarters of the same name Rajons Nikolske and was called to 2 February 2016 Володарське Wolodarske or Russian Володарское Volodarskoje .

Nikolske is located on the Kalez River ( ukr. Калець ) in the center of Nikolske Rajon in the south of Donetsk Oblast, 120 km southwest of Donetsk Oblast center and 22 km northwest of Mariupol . The settlement council community next to the main town nor the village belongs Nowojanyssol ( Ukr. Новоянисоль ) with 550 inhabitants and the settlement Lisne (Ukrainian Лісне ) with 65 residents.

history

Building of the district administration

The settlement was founded by Cossacks in 1831 as Chutir and was originally called Hladkyj ( ukr. Хутір Гладкий ). From 1855 to 1925 the place was called Nikolske , then until February 2, 2016, when it was regained its historical name Nikolske, Wolodarske . In October 1941 the place was occupied by the Wehrmacht and liberated by the Red Army on September 14, 1943 . In 1965 the village was given urban-type settlement status.
