Wojkowskyj (Ukrainian Войковський - Ukrainian officially since May 12, 2016 Kopani / Копані; Russian Войковский / Woikowski ) is an urban-type settlement in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine with around 1200 inhabitants.
The settlement of Obrisne (Обрізне) also belongs to the settlement council of the same name .
The settlement is on the edge of the Donets Basin , about 11 kilometers southwest of the Rajonshauptstadt Amvrosiivka as well as 40 kilometers southeast from Oblastzentrum Donetsk area.
The place was built in 1920 from a brick factory and was named Kopani (Копані) until 1938 , after which it was renamed to the name that is still valid today in honor of the Soviet revolutionary Pyotr Woikov . It has had urban-type settlement status since 1940. There is a large brick factory in the village.
As a result of the war in Ukraine , the settlement has been in the hands of pro-Russian separatists from the Donetsk People's Republic since summer 2014 .
