Staromychajliwka

Staromychajliwka (Ukrainian Старомихайлівка ; Russian Старомихайловка / Staromichailowka ) is an urban-type settlement in eastern Ukraine in Donetsk Oblast with about 5400 inhabitants.

The settlement is located in the east of Marjinka Rajons, about 9 kilometers northeast of the Rajonszentrum Marjinka and 21 kilometers west of the Donetsk Oblast center away south of the Losowa River (Лозова). The city limits of Donetsk border the place immediately in the south and east.

The place was founded in 1747 and received urban-type settlement status in 1938. During the war in Ukraine , the place has been occupied by separatists from the Donetsk People's Republic since summer 2014, and has since been recaptured by Ukrainian troops, but then fell under the control of the separatists again.
