The Wowtscha (Ukrainian Вовча , Russian Волчья / Woltschja ) is a 323 km long left tributary of the Samara in the catchment area of the Dnepr in Ukraine .
The river with a catchment area of 13,000 km² rises on the southeastern slopes of the Donets Ridge at 65 m altitude in Pokrovsk district , Donetsk Oblast , then flows into Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and flows into the Samara 12 km northwest of Pavlohrad .
Important tributaries are the 79 km long Solona (Ukrainian Солона ) with a catchment area of 946 km², the 55 km long Kamjanka (Ukrainian Кам'янка ), which has a catchment area of 517 km², and the 107 km long Verkhnya Tersa ( ерхня Терса ) with a catchment area of 1680 km² and the 130 km long Hajtschul ( Гайчул ) with a catchment area of 2140 km².
On the bank of the Vovcha are the urban-type settlements Vasylkivka , Kurachivka and Pokrovsk, as well as the city of Pavlohrad. The city of Kurachowe is located on the Kurachower reservoir , to which the river is dammed.
