    The Donets Plateau (also Donets Ridge ) is a plateau-like mountain range up to 369  m high in the Ukraine and Russia .

    It is part of the great Eastern European Plain and is mainly located in the Ukraine, only its extreme southeast still extends into the European part of southwest Russia . It is located south of the Siversky Donets River between the Sea of ​​Azov in the south, the Azov Highlands in the southwest and the Central Russian Plate in the north. In the southeast it borders on the Manytn lowlands .

    The mountainous landscape of the heavily populated Donetsk plateau is characterized by hilly and mountainous areas in which a few smaller rivers have dug themselves.

    The largest cities in or on the edge of the Donetsk Plateau include: Donetsk , Horlivka , Makiyivka , Stakhanov and Luhansk .
