Georg Ludwig de la Chevallerie

Georg Ludwig de la Chevallerie (* October 2, 1711 , † May 16, 1768 in Lüneburg ) was a British and electoral Braunschweig-Lüneburg Major General, Chief of the Electorate of Hanover Infantry Regiment No. 11-B and Commander of Lüneburg.

He came from a French family who had fled to Germany after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes and found acceptance in Celle .

His parents were the Kur-Braunschweiger Lieutenant Colonel Georg Friedrich de la Chevallerie and his wife de la Motte , a daughter of General Karl (Charles) de la Motte (* 1648; † August 12, 1717). His grandfather was the thigh of Prince Simeon de la Chevallerie († February 2, 1698). The Prussian general Ernst August de la Chevallerie von la Motte was his uncle.

As Colonel, he became Chief of the Infantry Regiment in 1756 and remained so until his death. In 1762 he was promoted to major general and in 1763 appointed commander of Lüneburg.

He died unmarried in 1768.
