Georg Mende (politician)

Georg Mende (born April 24, 1883 in Glatz / Lower Silesia ; † May 3, 1951 in Castrop-Rauxel ) was Lord Mayor of Castrop-Rauxel.

Life

After graduating from the Royal High School in Glatz, Georg Mende studied law , political science and economics at the University of Wroclaw and received his doctorate here in 1910. After the first state examination in law, he worked at various courts, including at the Wroclaw Higher Regional Court . After being appointed assessor in November 1912, he set up as a lawyer the following year. On June 21, 1915, he was called up for military service and was assigned to Field Artillery Regiment No. 6 until his dismissal due to unsuitability. On May 9, 1916, he worked as a magistrate's assistant in Magdeburg, and was appointed a paid city councilor on October 11, 1917. His election as mayor of the city of Castrop-Rauxel fell on July 24, 1924. He was elected first mayor of the city on June 8, 1926 and, due to a ministerial decree, had held the title of mayor since July 1, 1928 . On July 1, 1933, he was retired "for health reasons". In 1939 he resumed his work in the city administration and was an internal auditor in the city's economic and food office. In 1945 Mende headed the legal department of the city administration. He finally retired on March 31, 1949. Mende was a member of the German Center Party .
