from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Georg Nagel (* in the 16th century; † January 6, 1619 ) was a Protestant canon in Münster and assessor of the Landpfennigkammer .

Life

Georg Nagel came from the Westphalian noble family of Nagel , which had its origins in the Grafschaft Ravensberg and spread to the Rhineland and the Netherlands in the 16th century . He was the son of Jobst Nagel zu Itlingen and his wife Anna von Keppel zu Ampsen. In 1569 he came into the possession of a cathedral priest from Münster and was emancipated on May 26, 1573. In 1577 Georg joined the youth party in the cathedral chapter , of which Bernhard von Westerholt was one of the founders . This was close to the evangelical faith. On the Chapter Day on November 12, 1575, ten capitulars were Protestant; sixteen were Catholic . In 1590 he was archdeacon in Warendorf and later in Milte . He was also elected assessor of the Landpfennigkammer . In his will of May 5, 1616, he paid very little attention to his relatives, for they had previously received many benefits. His three sons Jobst, Lucas and Johann (consecrated as subdeacon on September 21, 1602), who were cohabiting with Anna Dorsel, received his house and court in Borculo. Georg always denied having had a concubine.
