Georg Peter Weimar
Georg Peter Weimar (born December 17, 1734 in Stotternheim , † December 19, 1800 in Erfurt ) was a German cantor and composer .
Life
Weimar attended the grammar school in Erfurt from 1752 , where Jakob Adlung became his music teacher. In 1758 he received the post of chamber musician and court choirmaster in Zerbst , where he met Carl Friedrich Christian Fasch . In 1763 Weimar was appointed cantor at the Merchant Church in Erfurt, became music director there in 1774 and received the title of music master in 1776. At the Ratsgymnasium he was responsible for singing lessons. After an accident in 1799, he was bedridden until his death.
Weimar was the center of musical life in Erfurt. He left behind several sacred motets and cantatas .
