Georg Pollich

Georg Pollich , also Giorgio Pollich (* 1928 in Brestovac near Zagreb , Croatia), is a German architect and long-time employee of Egon Eiermann .

Life

Born as the son of a diplomat in Croatia, Pollich grew up in Karlsruhe and studied architecture with Egon Eiermann at the Technical University of Karlsruhe from 1947 to 1952 .

After graduating, he worked as a freelancer in the Eiermann office and managed the planning and construction of the German Pavilion at Expo 58 in Brussels . Then (1962) he worked in Bonn as a project manager for the parliament building (" Langer Eugen "). After its completion Giorgio Pollich partner in 1968 was Stieldorf founded in Bonn Architektengemeinschaft planning group Stieldorf . Together with Robert Glatzer , he worked there on the competition design for the new building for the Federal Chancellery , which won 1st prize in 1971 and was carried out under Pollich's project management until 1976.

When the fire supervisory authority at the high-rise building demanded a second escape route, Pollich was proposed and appointed as Eiermann's inherent successor by the widow - the architect Brigitte Eiermann - with the planning of an independent stair tower.

In the following years, Pollich mainly worked on architecture competitions for public buildings such as the Bundestag / Bundesrat, the Federal President's Office, Landeszentralbank Bonn , Landtag building NRW in Düsseldorf, ARD-Studio Bonn, Naturkundemuseum Münster etc., some of which were awarded but not executed. Together with Peter Türler , he headed the planning group until it was closed in the 1990s.
