Georg Roth (mathematician)

Georg Roth (born January 26, 1845 in Hohfrankenheim , † 1913 ) was an Alsatian mathematician .

Life

Georg Roth attended the École normal supérieure and became professor of mathematics at the Protestant grammar school in Strasbourg . He later worked as an associate professor of mathematics at the University of Strasbourg . Initially, Elwin Bruno Christoffel brought him in to support him in the beginners' lectures, but his skills left a lot to be desired, so in 1878 Eugen Netto was brought in. On December 6, 1885, Georg Roth was registered with the matriculation number. Elected member of the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina in 2564 . From 1896 to 1912 he was the successor to Eugene Boeckel (1811-1896) on the board of directors of the Church of the Augsburg Confession of Alsace and Lorraine . He was succeeded by the farmer and liberal politician Michael Baerst .
