Georg Schleusner

Georg Ludwig Schleusner (born May 6, 1841 in Kemberg , † April 20, 1911 in Cochstedt ) was a German Protestant clergyman.

Life

Georg Schleusner was born as the son of Ferdinand Schleusner, provost and superintendent in Kemberg. His grandfather was Johann Friedrich Schleusner , professor of theology and general superintendent, from 1817 second director of the seminary in Wittenberg .

He attended high school in Schulpforte and began studying theology at the University of Halle in 1859 . In 1866 he passed the first theological exam in Halle and in 1868 the second exam in Magdeburg. The visit of the Theological Seminary in Wittenberg was followed on 22 August 1869 ordination . In 1869 he became assistant preacher at the Wittenberg seminary, in 1871 third deacon at the town church in Wittenberg, in 1881 second deacon and in 1889 archdeacon and garrison pastor.

Georg Schleusner collected funds from the Inner Mission and the provincial collectives as well as private donations in order to set up an infirmary foundation. On September 29, 1893 the foundation stone was laid for the Kaiser-Friedrich-Infirmary , which today bears his name as the Georg Schleusner Senior Citizens' Foundation .

From 1898 to 1911 Georg Schleusner was pastor, superintendent and district school inspector in Cochstedt.

Georg Schleusner married Henriette Dorothee Elisabeth Angelika, born in 1873. Palmié. The marriage resulted in two daughters. His daughter Thea Schleusner made a name for herself as a painter and writer.
