Georg Schneider (born January 26, 1892 in Neuheiduk , district of Beuthen , † June 1, 1977 in Hamburg ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Georg Schneider trained as a clerk. From 1919 he was the managing director of the German National Sales Assistant Association in Upper Silesia and a member of the German Center Party until 1933 . From 1926 until his dismissal for political reasons in 1933 he was a provincial board member in Ratibor . From 1933 to 1945 he was branch director of the Gerling insurance in Leipzig.

After the war, Georg Schneider initially became active in the CDU in Saxony and Thuringia . As state manager of the Thuringian CDU, he was elected to the zone committee on September 8, 1947 at the II. Party congress of the Union. Schneider was imprisoned for three months by the Soviet occupying forces and expelled from the country in 1947.

From 1948 to 1960 he was a member of the main board of the German employees' union (DAG) today ver.di , from 1959 to 1960 as acting chairman. In addition to his offices in the DAG, he worked for his union concerns as a member of the Bundestag from 1953 to 1961 and from 1962 to 1965.
