Georg Schwaiger (* 1923 ) is a former German wrestler.

He grew up in Chiemgau and wrestled with AC Bad Reichenhall as a teenager . Josef Paar showed him all the tricks and refinements that you had to know to be successful as a wrestler. But before the trained bricklayer could apply this knowledge, he had to go to war, from which he only returned after being a prisoner of war until 1948. He immediately started his sport again and became German team champion in 1950 with the AC Bad Reichenhall team.

Georg Schwaiger achieved his first success at German individual championships in 1951 in Rheinhausen , when he became runner-up in flyweight, freestyle, behind Heinrich Weber , Göppingen . Also in 1953 and 1955 he was runner-up in the free style, in 1954 in the Greco-Roman. The masters in those years were Heinrich Weber, Fritz Stange , Stuttgart-Untertürkheim and Josef Hintermeier , Neuaubing. In 1955 he finally got the big hit, he became German flyweight champion, free style, in front of Stange and Walter Idler , Stuttgart . A third place in 1957 in free style, behind Stange and Paul Neff , Schifferstadt , rounded off his successful career.
