Georg Sehrbrock (born April 27, 1961 in Anrath ) is a German keyboardist and composer .

After basic classical training on the piano and church organ, he studied with the jazz pianist and composer Jürgen Dahmen in the 1980s . His debut album, which he recorded (according to the album's booklet) with ten musicians from - almost - contrary music scenes (rock, jazz, blues, funk, classic, folk), was released in 1993 under the name Belgium . It was re-released in 1994 on another record label under the title A Visual Concert , Belgium becoming the name of this music project.

In 1996 the CD Cumberland's Tree followed ; among other guest musicians were u. a. represented by the trumpeter Markus Türk and the saxophonist Johannes Seidemann, who subsequently accompanied Sehrbrock on other project albums.

The 1999 CD Zero received very good reviews at home and abroad and was in the ambient charts of the US “Echoes” radio shows for several weeks and CD of the month in the German “Keyboards” magazine. Further releases were the best-of album Static Music in 2000 and the 2003 album Nachtfahrt .

Sehrbrock himself describes his music as ambient jazz , as his influences he describes modern jazz and the American minimalists such as Philip Glass , Terry Riley and Steve Reich as well as the electronic music of the Berlin and Düsseldorf schools.

Georg Sehrbrock works mainly in the studio, live performances are rather rare and usually take place together with visual artists, dancers or video artists. At the beginning of 2013, the name was changed from Belgium to Byggesett Orchestra . In changing line-ups, the "Orchestra" prefers to use special spaces such as museums, churches, factories, etc. in cooperation with video installations. a.

Georg Sehrbrock is also a trained special education teacher and teaches as a special school teacher. He coaches various music / percussion projects with disabled and non-disabled youth, including a. including the band "drum factory", which has already released three CDs under the previous name "drum drive unit Tschitschapeng".
