Georg Strasser (born June 29, 1971 in Amstetten , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Since October 2013 he has been a member of the Austrian National Council and since August 2017 President of the Farmers' Union .

Life

Georg Strasser visited Nöchling the elementary school , in Waldhausen the high school from 1985 to 1990, the Francisco Josephinum in Wieselburg . After graduating from high school in 1990, he studied food and biotechnology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna . He completed his studies in 1998 as a graduate engineer .

Georg Strasser is married and lives in Nöchling.

Political career

After completing his community service , from 1998 to 1999, he started working as a farmer in Nöchling . From 2005 to 2008 he was managing director of the Institute for Sustainability in Yspertal . In February 2009 he started his own business and founded an advertising agency .

Strasser held his first political mandate in 2006, when he was elected Vice Mayor of Nöchling. In 2007 he became party chairman of the ÖVP in Nöchling and in March 2009 he was elected mayor. Georg Strasser was Mayor of Nöchling from 2009 to 2017.

After the 2013 National Council election , Strasser was sworn in as a member of the National Council .

On July 12, 2017, he was unanimously designated by the Bauernbund presidium as the successor to Jakob Auer as President of the Bauernbund and elected to the Federal Council of Farmers in Yspertal on August 26, 2017.
