George IX Sylvius Curd Julius Erich Magnus Freiherr von und zu Massenbach (born July 30, 1799 in Potsdam , † February 1, 1885 in Massenbach ) was a German manor owner and member of parliament.

Life

Georg von Massenbach was born as the son of the Prussian colonel and writer Christian von Massenbach and Amalie geb. Henriette de Gualtieri (1767-1846). In 1807 and 1808 he was the playmate of the future King and Emperor Wilhelm I in Berlin . After graduating from high school in 1818, he studied law and camera science at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin . He served as a one-year volunteer in 1818 and 1819 . In 1819 he became a member of the Corps Marchia Berlin . In 1820 he gave up his studies to support his mother in the management of the manors Bialokosch and Pinne in the province of Posen . In 1826 he became co-owner of the family headquarters in Massenbach in the Heilbronn district . In 1835 he became the owner of the goods in Poznan. In 1871 he handed over the Poznan property to his sons and lived in Massenbach until his death. He was married to Sophie, b. from Gemmingen .

In addition to the management of the estate, Massenbach was an officer in the 20th Landwehr Regiment, first from 1820 second lieutenant, from 1839 prime lieutenant and from 1847 captain. In 1852 he was passed as a major.

Massenbach was a member of the district council of the Samter district . In 1834 he became a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Poznan. In 1841 he became deputy land marshal . In 1850 he belonged to the Volkshaus of the Erfurt Union Parliament . From 1867 to 1870 he sat for the constituency of Posen 3 (Samter, Birnbaum) in the Prussian House of Representatives . He belonged to the faction of the Conservative Party .
