description

The building is located at Abbey Close in the city center not far from Paisley Abbey . The White Cart Water flows along the back of the building . It was built between 1879 and 1882 to a design by the Belfast architect W. H. Lynn . The sculptures are the work of the Glasgow sculptor James Young . Stylistically, this building combines several directions. Classical temple fronts with Ionic or Corinthian columns point to the east and north . Ionic pillars are installed in various places . A tall bell tower rises on the north side. This is initially unadorned, but becomes more detailed at the level of the tower clocks installed on all sides. The room above for the bells has an octagonal floor plan and is open. It closes with a curved cap. A second, smaller tower has similarities with the first.
