George Herman Buck Jr. (born February 1, 1929 in New Jersey , † December 11, 2013 in New Orleans ) was an American impresario and record producer.

Buck made his first jazz record in New York in 1949 when he founded his GHB Records label. In the early 1960s he owned several radio stations, including in Philadelphia, Charlotte, Ohio and WTIX in New Orleans, which he controlled from Atlanta . He also founded and acquired several jazz labels, including American Music Records (taken over by Bill Russell ), Circle Records , Southland, Audiophile, and Jazzology , named after the radio show he started his career on in 1947. They are now all sub-labels of Jazzology., With an extensive catalog reflecting the decades of jazz and blues recording activity in New Orleans. In 1987 he founded The George H. Buck, Jr., Jazz Foundation . In 1987 he moved to New Orleans and ran the Palm Court Jazz Café on Decatur Street with his wife Nina , where traditional jazz was played and Buck operated a record store; Much of the record inventory was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina . He died of a heart attack in December 2013 at the age of 84.
