George Evans (basketball player)

George Evans (born January 31, 1971 in Portsmouth , Virginia ) is a retired American basketball player .

The 2.02 m tall and 105 kg center began his basketball career at the age of 25 at George Mason University , where he played for five years. During that time, he was named Player of the Year by the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) three times in a row from 1999 to 2001.

In 2001 he moved to Europe, where he played for the Belgian first division club Dexia Mons-Hainaut for seven years . For the 2008/09 season Evans joined the German Bundesliga club TBB Trier . In April 2011, he surprisingly left the club for family reasons. At the time of his departure, he was the oldest player in the basketball Bundesliga.
