Jürgen Kratzenberg

Jürgen Kratzenberg , pseudonym George Mountain (born April 29, 1944 in Coburg ) is a German composer, songwriter and author.

Life

He received lessons (piano and double bass) from his father Fritz Kratzenberg, double bass player at the Dresden Philharmonic . Jürgen devoted himself to light music at the age of 19 and began his professional career in 1963 in Kühlungsborn . He then worked in various Dresden bands as a bassist and composer (Fred Herfter Combo, Hans Günter Werner Sextett, etc.). In 1972 he moved to East Berlin and played with Die Alexanders , College Formation Berlin , Klaus Lenz Band , Fusion , and founded his band Power & Emotion in 1982. In 1980 he took part in the Pankow Poetry Club.

In 1985 he moved from East to West Berlin . There he was mainly active as a composer. From 1990 to 2000 he also worked as a sound engineer and realized successful productions in the music and film industry. Under the pseudonym George Mountain he made several own recordings with his George Mountains Party Band for the Heno Pavia Records label.

In March 1993 he received a prize from the German Composers' Association for his symphony Romantic Tale , which was performed in the Berlin Philharmonic . In the 2010s he worked exclusively as a songwriter.
