George Paish

Sir George Paish (born November 7, 1867 in Horsham , Sussex , † May 1, 1957 in Wexham , Buckinghamshire ) was a British economist.

Life and activity

Paish was a son of the coachman Robert Paish and his wife Jane.

From 1894 to 1900 Paish served as associate editor of The Statist magazine , which he eventually became editor-in-chief.

Between 1902 and 1949 Paish presented numerous works on economic issues.

On July 1, 1912, Paish was beaten Knight Bachelor , so that he was allowed to carry the title Sir from then on .

On the occasion of the British general elections in 1922 and 19345, Paish applied unsuccessfully for a seat in the House of Commons , the British Parliament, as a candidate for the Liberal Party.

Marriage and offspring

Paish married Emily Mary Whitehead († 1933) on March 24, 1894, with whom he had five sons, including the economist Frank Walter Paish .

In his second marriage, Paish was married to Anita Carolyn Rouse since September 30, 1936.
