George Simonds Boulger
George Simonds Boulger ( 1853 - May 4, 1922 in Richmond upon Thames ) was a British botanist and author . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Boulger ".
Life
Boulger, the son of a doctor, studied at Epsom College and trained in law at Middle Temple in London. In 1876 he became professor of botany at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester , which he stayed for 30 years. He was also a lecturer in botany at the City of London College from 1884 and at the Imperial Institute in London from 1917.
Boulger wrote many popular science books on plants and geology and was Kew Gardens correspondent for The Times on botany.
He was a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London , the Royal Horticultural Society and the Geological Society of London , a member of the Selborne Society and the Essex Field Club.
